CEFPPC Scheme The main objective of the Scheme is creation of processing and preservation capacities and modernisation/ expansion of existing food processing units with a view to increasing the level of processing, value addition leading to reduction of wastage.

Objective

To create modern infrastructure for the food processing sector, with a focus on:

  • Reducing post-harvest losses

  • Improving value addition

  • Creating employment

  • Increasing income for farmers

  • Encouraging entrepreneurship

🏭 Scope of Assistance

The scheme provides financial support for:

  • Setting up new units or

  • Expanding and modernizing existing food processing units

The assistance covers:

  • Equipment/machinery purchase

  • Civil work related to core processing activities

  • Technical civil work like cold storage, packaging, IQF, blast freezing, etc.

🧾 Eligible Sectors/Sub-Sectors

The following industries are eligible:

  • Fruits and vegetables

  • Dairy

  • Meat and poultry

  • Fish and marine products

  • Cereals and pulses

  • Oilseeds and oil milling

  • Ready-to-eat/ready-to-cook products

  • Mushrooms, spices, plantation crops, etc.

🧑‍🌾 Eligible Entities

Entities eligible for grant assistance include:

  • Proprietorships

  • Partnerships and LLPs

  • Cooperatives and SHGs

  • Private limited companies

  • Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs)

  • NGOs involved in food processing

  • State PSUs or Joint Ventures with private sector

💰 Financial Assistance / Grant Pattern

  • Grant-in-aid of up to:

    • 35% of eligible project cost for general areas

    • 50% for difficult areas (NE states, hilly regions, SC/ST entrepreneurs, etc.)

  • Maximum ceiling of the grant: Rs. 5 crore

  • Eligible project cost excludes working capital, land cost, and pre-operative expenses.

  1. Core Processing Facilities

    • Processing lines for fruit pulping, canning, freezing, drying, milling, etc.

  2. Preservation Infrastructure

    • Cold rooms, refrigeration, IQF systems

  3. Packaging Solutions

    • Automated packaging lines

  4. Quality Control Facilities

    • Testing and laboratory equipment

📄 Application Process

  1. Call for Proposals:

    • MoFPI issues EoIs (Expression of Interest) on their website.

  2. Submission of DPR (Detailed Project Report):

    • Along with required documents, cost estimates, land documents, etc.

  3. Screening & Appraisal:

    • By Project Appraisal Committee

  4. Approval & Grant Release:

    • Released in phases (typically 2-3 instalments)

  5. Implementation Period:

    • Generally, 2 years from the date of approval
